If Care Possible Is Not an Agency, Then What Is It (and How Can It Help Me?)
If you are organizing care for someone you love - a parent, a partner, a family member, chances are you may have already researched home care agencies or you have been in touch with the regional health authority about assigned care. That's where a lot of Manitoban families will start, so it's not uncommon for us to be asked: “Are you an agency?”
Care Possible is not a home care agency; we are a social enterprise and a non-profit service that supports people in managing their own care.
A Different Approach to Finding Care
Care Possible is a service that connects Manitoba families with independent, self-employed care providers enabled by people at Manitoba Possible and an easy-to-use web app. Instead of a provider being assigned to you, you have direct choice in who you get care from. You build the relationship, set the care schedule together, and manage it through a model designed to empower self and family managers.
Through the online platform, families can:
Browse care provider profiles in their community
Review experience, skills, and availability
Connect and interview potential providers
Select the person who best meets their needs
Establish schedules collaboratively
Manage support arrangements with greater flexibility
For many families, this model creates an opportunity to build long-term care relationships that are based on compatibility, shared expectations, and continuity.
Putting Choice at the Center of Care
Care needs and expectations are rarely the same for everyone.
An older adult wishing to maintain independence at home in Charleswood, a family supporting a loved one with a disability in St James, and an individual recovering from illness in Bridgewater may all require different forms of assistance and different approaches to delivering it.
Care Possible understands that families often know what works best for their circumstances.
By giving people the ability to choose who supports them, when support is provided, and how schedules are arranged, the platform helps keep decision-making close to the individuals receiving care.
That level of choice can be particularly meaningful when trust, consistency, and personal connection are important parts of the care experience.
Who are care providers?
Care Possible is built around independent care providers who offer a wide range of support services. Care providers create profiles that highlight their experience, background, interests, and availability, helping families make informed decisions. This approach lets families explore multiple options.
Choosing your own provider doesn't mean compromising safety or quality of care. Every care provider on the Care Possible platform has completed a number of background checks, including a child abuse registry check, an adult abuse registry check, and a police record check.

How much does it cost and who pays for it?
Families and care providers determine hourly rates and care schedules together, allowing arrangements to reflect individual needs, budgets, and preferences.
Support can be funded through publicly funded programs such as Self and Family Managed Care or paid for out of pocket (or a combination of both).
