  • It can feel overwhelming to be responsible for delivering every type of care for loved ones whose needs are growing - from companionship, housekeeping, meals and shopping-to bathing, commodes and wheelchairs - -care needs need grow over time. 

    The truth is, nobody can do it all! And if you are trying, you’re probably struggling to do it well. Getting skilled help from people trained to deliver professional and compassionate care can make a world of difference - if you, or someone you know could use help - take the next step.

  • When faced with challenges, it’s essential that families work together to fulfill the needs of loved ones. The first step is often communicating about what those needs are. 

    Consider having a frank conversation and list the tasks needed and how often those jobs need to be done. With Care Possible you can start small with just a few of the tasks on the list, determine the number of hours and the amount you can afford. It’s easy to adjust the schedule if the needs grow larger than the family is able to manage.

  • Care Possible is an initiative of Manitoba Possible (formerly SMD, or Society for Manitobans with Disabilities), a not-for-profit organization that has been serving Manitoban families for over 70 years. By offering flexible, affordable, preference based care in this new way, we’re better able to support families who need help with respite and home care. For families that qualify for respite or home care funding, you can use Care Possible as part of your Self & Family Managed Care Plan and be reimbursed for the qualifying services.

  • While the Care Possible web platform is very easy to use, we understand that it might be intimidating for a first time user. That’s why our Customer Support Team, is available to talk with you on the phone and help you navigate through the system and answer any questions you may have.

FAQs

  • Yes! You decide who you’d like to work for you according to the criteria and qualities you’re looking for. 

    Care providers on Care Possible are all independent contractors who set their own rates and hours. You can also view recommendations and ratings from past clients, and check whether their personal interests are a good fit before you make contact.

    You can even invite people to become care providers on the platform. 

    Care providers can apply for your listings or you can search care providers and contact them directly.

  • Yes, if several family members are all helping out with caring for a loved one, you can invite another person to help organize support. They are called co-organizers and the primary account holder can invite them to access the account.

  • When joining Care Possible, care providers must complete a thorough verification process, including a profile picture, phone and email verification and provide a short bio. This allows the care provider to become visible on the platform and increases their chances of getting job opportunities. In addition, care providers must complete Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry and and Vulnerable Sector checks.

  • The schedule can be as flexible as you want. You can start with casual hours, last-minute jobs or schedule time weeks away. Typically families like to schedule regular work periods for about a month at a time.
